Bishkek, Apr. 2, 2019. /Kabar/. Over the past year, Kyrgyzstan gained the most popularity among Uzbek tourists, compared with 2017, their number in 2018 increased more than threefold, the report of the National Statistics Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic states.
According to preliminary estimates of the committee, last year the share of tourism in the total volume of gross domestic product exceeded 27 billion soms and amounted to 5% of the macroeconomic indicator, remaining at the level of the previous year.
The reception of and service to tourists in the past year were carried out by 486 recreation facilities and tourism organizations. Of these, 187 are specialized accommodation facilities, as well as 185 hotels, 64 travel agencies and tour operators, travel and excursions agencies, 9 natural parks and more than 40 other tourist sites.
The number of those who rested was 1.4 million (almost unchanged from the previous year). A significant part of them was in Issyk-Kul oblast, where the number of those who rested was more than 900 thousand people.
According to the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, the number of foreign citizens who crossed the border in 2018 amounted to more than 7 million people, which is 1.5 greater than in 2017.
Thus, 38% of their total number consisted of tourists from Kazakhstan, which is 22% less than in 2017. The number of tourists from Uzbekistan, by contrast, increased from 15% to 48% within a year.
But, at the same time, there was also a reduction in tourists from Tajikistan by 5%, Russia - by 4% and other countries - by 2%.
