According to data of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 104 people have drowned in Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of the year, senior officer of the Civil Protection Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Omurbek Chokombayev told during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He said that task group is formed annually, which conducts rescue activities in the tourist season. In addition, the local population also undergoes trainings.
Thus, 14 thousand 705 citizens have been trained.
"We also train rescuers on the water. During this year, 187 rescuers have been trained on the water, of which 129 work in boarding houses in Issyk-Kul region. Training takes place at the initiative of the owners of the boarding houses. They send their personnel and we train them on the basis of the agreement," Chokombayev said.
He also added that 104 people have drowned in the republic since the beginning of the year, 81 of them during the summer period.
