Bishkek, Feb. 22, 2022 . / Kabar /. The 10th Run the Silk road - Shanghai Cooperation Organization" ("Run the Silk road") International Issyk-Kul Marathon will start in Cholpon-Ata on May 14, the Department of Physical Culture and Sports reported Tuesday.
The international marathon is held in order to strengthen the integration of SCO member states, development of domestic and foreign event tourism and promotion of healthy lifestyles and involvement of the population in regular exercises of physical culture and sports.
The 10th SCO Issyk-Kul International Marathon dedicated to the memory of Satymkul Dzhumanazarov is held under the auspices of the SCO Marathon series and holding all planned events within the SCO framework is an important event for Kyrgyzstan.
Also, since 2021 the Marathon is a qualifying marathon, which gives the opportunity to receive a ticket to the Asian Games, World Championships and Olympic Games.
More than 3,000 people are planned to participate in the international sporting event, including teams of SCO member states, members of the national athletics team of the Kyrgyz Republic and all fans of running.
Races at different distances are scheduled in the marathon: 42 km 195 m, half marathon 21 km 97 m, 10 km, 3 km, Nordic walking 3 and 10 km. The prize fund is KGS 1 million 44 thousand (only the distance of 42 and 21 km).
