Bishkek, April 30, 2022 . /Kabar/. 1,366 traffic accidents were registered in Kyrgyzstan over the three months of this year (1,572 in 2021), Head of the Main Department for Road Safety Azamat Israilov said at a board meeting of the Interior Ministry.
Thus, 110 people have died since the beginning of the year (134 in 2021) and 2,079 (2,345 in 2021) people were injured.
After hearing the report, Interior Minister Ulan Niyazbekov said that the number of traffic accidents decreased by 13.1% in the first quarter.
"However, these figures are not enough. The number of road accidents must be reduced by at least 50%. There is an important period ahead - the tourist season. If accidents increase during the tourist season, appropriate measures will be taken against heads of the Road Safety Department, who are responsible for the road sections, where there is an increase," the interior minister of Kyrgyzstan added.
