Bishkek, Feb. 1, 2021. /Kabar/. The State Border Service (SBS) of the Kyrgyz Republic summed up the results of the service and combat activities of the agency in 2020.
According to the SBS press service, the situation on the state border in 2020 remained stable.
Last year, 12 incidents were recorded on the border, of which 9 incidents were registered on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border; 3 incidents on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek section. In recent years, there has been a steady downward trend in the number of incidents on the state border.
Summing up the results of service and combat activities, Chairman of the State Border Service of the republic Ularbek Sharsheyev outlined positive developments in the activities of the border guard service and noted certain shortcomings and omissions.
"In 2021, it is necessary to pay attention to the areas where border incidents, violations of the state border and its regime are most likely to occur, as well as to strengthen cooperation with local authorities on the prevention of conflicts on the state border and their de-escalation. The priority is a comprehensive fight against smuggling with the joint efforts of other state agencies," said the chairman.
Last year, 165 people were detained for state border violations; 41 people - for state border violations; 62 people - for border violations.
In 2020, more than 7 million 780 thousand people and more than 860 thousand vehicles crossed the state border. Border guards detected 1,589 people with faulty documents.
