13 settlements in Kyrgyzstan planned to be given status of village

Bishkek, July 6, 2022. /Kabar/. The State Agency for Civil Service and Local Government Affairs submits for public discussion a draft law "On the classification of certain settlements of Batken, Jalal-Abad, Osh, and Issyk-Kul Oblasts of the Kyrgyz Republic as villages.

A total of 10 thousand 93 people live in 13 settlements proposed for inclusion in the category of village.

The assignment of certain settlements to the category of village raises their status, and they become a separate territorial unit within the corresponding rural area, which will give autonomy to the local community to resolve issues of local significance, and increases the initiative and responsibility of the local community.

The assignment of settlements to the category of village will be the impetus for the activation of the local community to attract investment, cooperate with various projects, mobilize internal reserves and create conditions for socio-economic development of the territory.
