Bishkek, March 16, 2022 . / Kabar /. 133 people in Kyrgyzstan suffered from pyramid scheme this year. The damage amounted to more than KGS 61 million, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan said Wednesday.
In 2 months of 2022, the Interior Ministry investigated 111 pre-trial cases on organization of financial pyramids, 91 of them were sent to court for consideration on the merits, the remaining cases are under investigation.
"The vast majority of the above facts are registered in Bishkek, the rest - in Osh and Issyk-Kul Oblasts. In the pursuit of 'easy' money, citizens get into debt to take money to 'benefactors' who promise them huge dividends in a short period of time,” the report said.
Financial pyramid scheme is one of the most common types of financial fraud, it can be disguised as almost any form of organization.
