Bishkek, June 10, 2020 / Kabar /. 139 employees of China Road and Bridge Corp. will arrive in Kyrgyzstan on June 12 by charter flight to resume full-scale construction work on roads.
The press service of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Kyrgyz Republic, in connection with the expected mobilization of employees of China Road and Bridge Corp. the ministry will organize a trip to the construction site of the North-South Alternative Road to familiarize themselves with the construction work and carry out explanatory work with the participation of local authorities and the public.
It is worth noting that for decades, the existing Bishkek-Osh highway was the only land route providing uninterrupted and stable road communication between the north and south of the country. The intensity of vehicles on the Bishkek-Osh highway is on average from 10 to 20 thousand cars per day and can no longer cope with the growing flow of vehicles, in addition, the condition of the road does not meet today's safety requirements and uninterrupted transit of freight and passenger traffic.
In order to provide an alternative route connecting the northern and southern regions of the republic, uninterrupted passenger and cargo transportation within the country, as well as in case of emergency, there is a need to build an alternative North-South highway, which will have strategic, economic and social significance for the development of the country. And the construction of the North-South alternative road by China Road and Bridge Corp. has begun.
The construction of the road will contribute to the development of international and domestic tourism, and will also increase the volume of trade between regions.
China Road & Bridge Corp.is the general contractor of the first two projects.
Due to quarantine measures and the closure of international borders amid COVID-19, the majority employees of China Road and Bridge Corp. couldn’t get into the country, which actually stopped all construction work.
By a decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Transport worked with the State Migration Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic on all the necessary issues for obtaining the necessary permits for the entry of foreign personnel from China Road and Bridge Corporation in the amount of 390 people, the report said.
