Bishkek, Sept. 29, 2020 / Kabar /. The 15th (anniversary) meeting of the SCO Forum is held today in the format of an online conference under the chairmanship of the National Institute for Strategic Studies (NISS) of Kyrgyzstan.
The event is held by the NISS of Kyrgyzstan with the support of the Office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting was opened by director of the NISS Emil Kaptagaev, Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Azizbek Madumarov, SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov also addressed the participants with greetings.
Heads of delegations from India, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan make presentations on the following topics:
1. Building sustainable peace and stability in the SCO region: security challenges and threats associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
2. New approaches and multilateral economic cooperation in the SCO space in the context of a pandemic.
3. The role of the SCO Forum and prospects for cooperation in solving problems to overcome the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic (in the field of public health, sanitary and epidemiological surveillance, emergencies, education, tourism, etc.).
Representatives of the Republic of Belarus, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Mongolian People's Republic and from the dialogue partner states - representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan also take part in the Forum as observer states.
The forum participants also discussed the state and prospects for the further development of the SCO's activities amid the coronavirus pandemic, as well as issues of coordination of actions, exchange of information and mutual assistance in order to overcome the negative socio-economic consequences of the pandemic.
