Bishkek, Oct. 4, 2018. / Kabar /. The third International Issyk-Kul Forum “Chyngyz Aitmatov and Challenges of Modernity” will bring together 160 prominent personalities from 25 countries of the world.
The organizers of a large-scale world-class event during a press conference at Kabar News Agency told about the upcoming program.
“The forum will be attended by famous writers, politicians, futurologists, film critics, artists, scientists and researchers in various fields. They will once again raise problems about which Aitmatov wrote in his works. It is very important for us, because each of them has something to say,” said head of the department of culture, art and vocational education of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic Damira Alyshbaeva.
She said that the two-day forum from October 6 to 7 will consist of three sessions, which deal with issues of humanism, the problems of modern ecology, as well as the preservation of the national and cultural identity of peoples.
“We are very pleased that in honor of the anniversary of our great writer, the cultural events are held not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also in many cities of the world. The streets are named after Airtmatov, monuments and squares are opened,” added Alyshbaeva.
In addition, she stressed that such a respectful attitude of the world community to the personality and creativity of Aitmatov is an honor to the Kyrgyz people, because the name of the writer for a foreign world is synonymous with his homeland.
“Indeed, Aitmatov is accepted by the world community as a synonym for Kyrgyzstan, and holding a forum of the 90th anniversary of the national writer is a particularly significant event for all admirers of his works,” said Osmonakun Ibraimov, a literary scholar and public figure.
He stressed that the forum is expected to express new ideas and solutions to the problems that Aitmatov raised through the skill of his pen. Challenges of a global scale, raised by the writer and newly influential personalities of our time should draw attention of world leaders and have the right influence on their actions and decisions. Among them, according to the professors and literary scholars, should be primarily problems of environmental catastrophe, terrorism and humanism.
Thus, among the expected guests are world-famous film directors Emir Kusturitsa, Nikita Mikhalkov, and venerable personalities of the literary, political and academic environment.
A public figure, Ph.D. Zhumagul Saadanbekov pointed out that the person of Aitmatov was always surrounded by the attention and interest of prominent world intellectuals, due to which the Issyk-Kul forum always had great relevance.
He recalled that the forum was held annually since 1986 and got its name due to the first location of the meeting - Issyk-Kul.
Until 1989, it was held in European cities, but due to the heated political situation, the forum was suspended and not held until 1997, when it was again held in the homeland of the writer, in the city of Bishkek.
