Tashkent, Jan. 24, 2022 . / Kabar / . Kazakh police detained 17 more Uzbeks in Nur-Sultan, the press service of the Agency for External Labor Migration of Uzbekistan said.
"The Uzbek Embassy in Kazakhstan has received a request about 17 citizens of Uzbekistan without documents, detained in the temporary detention facility in Nur-Sultan," the report said.
The Uzbek side prepared and sent documents to the detention center, certifying the identity of the detainees. They were fined for violating migration laws, seven of them will be returned to their homeland.
Earlier in Kazakhstan, after the end of the state of emergency, a special operational and preventive measure to ensure public order was launched.
Last week, 18 citizens of Uzbekistan were detained in the Kazakh capital, who also did not have the necessary documents.
According to official data, in 2021 almost 7 thousand Uzbeks got jobs in Kazakhstan through organized recruitment. According to unofficial data, the number of Uzbek migrant workers in the neighboring country reaches 150 thousand.
