2 terrorist attacks prevented, 29 terrorists detained in Kyrgyzstan in 2020

Bishkek, Dec. 24, 2020 / Kabar /. The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of the Kyrgyz Republic prevented 2 terrorist attacks in Kyrgyzstan in 2020, chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic Kamchybek Tashiev told at a press conference.

He said that, a total of 229 criminal cases were registered, 29 terrorists and their accomplices were detained. Of these, 7 militants were in the combat zones.

“28 extremists were detained, 35 people were brought to criminal responsibility, 19 foreign jihadists were expelled from the country. 19 people were convicted. 15 facts of use of illegally issued and forged passports were revealed. Two channels of financing terrorist activities were suppressed with the seizure of a large batch of counterfeit foreign currency (US dollars). 3 units of explosives, 13 units of firearms were seized. 10 thousand 181 extremist publications, 654 videos were identified and removed, and 9 sites and channels were closed,” he said.
