Bishkek, Nov. 15, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan hosted on Monday a ceremony of awarding certificates to companies intending to build renewable energy facilities (small hydropower plants, solar and wind power plants).
The press service of the Energy Ministry reported that 20 companies received 48 certificates of subjects of RES (renewable energy sources), with a total planned capacity of 639.5 MW.
Minister of Energy Doskul Bekmurzaev noted the development of renewable energy sources is a priority.
"President of Kyrgyzstan has set a number of tasks to increase energy capacity. Currently, the ministry is working on commissioning power plants, including solar, wind and small hydropower. In addition, we are constantly negotiating with domestic and foreign investors to build renewable energy facilities," the minister stressed.
Bekmurzaev added that the Kyrgyz Energy Ministry intends to build several small HPPs using its own resources.
“The construction of Bala-Saruu HPP is continuing. We plan to build Orto-Tokoi, Sary-Dzhaz, Kara-Kul and Tort-Kul HPPs. The hydropower plants built on the dam will not have a negative impact on irrigation," he noted.
The official said that small hydropower is the most promising for Kyrgyzstan today because it is one of the renewable energy sources.
These companies will be included in the state register of subjects of RES.
The Register of RES Subjects is a unified system of state registration of all subjects of RES that have expressed their intention and are engaged in the production, supply (sale) of electricity generated using RES.
