Bishkek, Oct. 24, 2018. / Kabar /. According to data of the National Statistics Committee, about 45,000 marriages are concluded in Kyrgyzstan per year, 20% of them are related to the abduction of brides, Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic Tokon Mamytov told during his report in the Jogorku Kenesh.
He said that 6% out of these 20% of bride kidnapping are concluded by using violence.
“In recent years, such facts have become more, so one should pay better attention to this. For example, 72 cases were initiated in 2014-2015 in this direction, every fifth case of which was completed with reconciliation of the parties. 13 cases were brought to courti n 2017,” he said.
