Bishkek, Dec. 27, 2021 . / Kabar / . During the report to the Cabinet of Ministers on the work done, Kyrgyzstan’s Internal Minister Ulan Niyazbekov spoke about the state of road safety.
According to the information, during 11 months of last year 5 thousand 545 traffic accidents were registered, this year - 6 thousand 820, which is 22.9% more.
Of those injured in accidents, 30% were drivers, 70% - passengers.
"The main cause of accidents is that more than 60% of drivers did not receive proper training, but were able to get a driver's license. Over the past 3 years, the total damage from road accidents amounted to KGS 12 billion 761 million to citizens, including the state,” said the minister.
Earlier, during an inspection, it was found that 135 out of 235 driving schools do not meet the requirements.
"This is all because all licensing and registration functions, including permits to drive a vehicle, were the responsibility of one state bodies," Ulan Niyazbekov believes.
Currently the procedure is underway to transfer to the Ministry of Internal Affairs the Unaa state enterprise, the function of conducting and accepting qualification examinations for the right to drive cars, issuing driver's licenses, the function of licensing activities in the field of passenger transportation.
