Bishkek, Feb.12, 2020. /Kabar/. The second meeting of the Committee for Industry and Entrepreneurship Development under the National Council on Sustainable Development of the Kyrgyz Republic was held today, Feb.12 in Bishkek.
The meeting was chaired by Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
Issues on the state of investment protection and observance of business entities’ rights, on legal aspects of decriminalization of economic crimes, on the implementation of the legislation on protection of entrepreneurship by law enforcement agencies were considered at the meeting, the press service of the President reported.
Jeenbekov stressed the state has taken comprehensive measures to create favorable conditions for the development of local business, reduce administrative barriers, simplify service procedures, and digitalize services.
However, despite active efforts, the work to attract investments to the regions is not being done at the proper level, there is a lack of expected business activity, and entrepreneurs see the reason for this state of affairs as weak protection of investor interests.
The head of state noted the need to implement reforms to improve the interaction between law enforcement, judicial bodies, local authorities and business, demanding to speed up the work of law enforcement, inspection bodies and judicial system to introduce digital technologies.
Executive Director of the International Business Council, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Askar Sydykov presented a report on the state of investment protection and observance of the rights of business entities, Member of the Association of Lawyers of Kyrgyzstan Syrgak Arzymatov spoke about legal aspects of decriminalization of economic cases, General Prosecutor of the Kyrgyz Republic Otkurbek Dzhamshitov presented information on the implementation of the legislation on protection of the rights of entrepreneurs by law enforcement agencies.
During the discussion, representatives of the business environment in the country voiced topical issues of improving the investment climate and problems that they face during their work with inspectors, law enforcement and judicial authorities.
In conclusion, President Jeenbekov thanked everybody for the open dialogue, and noted this format of work helps to solve systematically all voiced problems.
He added information on concrete measures to solve the issues and complaints, voiced by the business community of the country, will be provided at the next meetings of the Committee.
The Committee’s meeting resulted in adoption of Protocol relevant recommendations for further improvement of the business environment and investment attractiveness of the country.
The Committee was established on Dec. 26, 2018 by a decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic. It is designed to become a dialogue platform between the state and the business community to address its pressing issues.
The first meeting of the Committee for Industry and Entrepreneurship Development under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz President was held on June 24, 2019.
