There are 3 thousand 257 religious organizations registered in Kyrgyzstan, Zakir Chotaev, Deputy Director of the State Commission for Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic told during the discussion with the media representatives of the draft law "On Amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic" On Freedom of Religion and Religious Organizations in the Kyrgyz Republic.

He said that 299 religious organizations out of them are the Christians, 12 Bahai communities, 1 Jewish religion, 1 Buddhist organization, all other Islamic organizations that are part of the structure of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan.

He also noted that 20 religious organizations are banned on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.

"When we talk about forbidden organizations, we mean organizations that were banned by the courts of different instances on the grounds of extremist and terrorist activities," he said.
