3.5 mln men live in Kyrgyzstan - numbers and facts for Defender of Fatherland Day

Bishkek, Feb. 23, 2024. /Kabar/. The National Statistics Committee has prepared interesting figures and facts for the Defender of the Fatherland Day, which is celebrated in Kyrgyzstan on 23 February.

In the total population of the republic over a long period of time, the proportion of men remains unchanged - 49.5%.

The number of men in the republic at the beginning of 2024 was 3.5 million (taking into account data from the 2022 population and housing census of the Kyrgyz Republic).

Two thirds of the republic’s male population are rural residents. Every sixth man lives in Bishkek. Not a single field of activity is complete without male participation.

In 2022, the employment rate of men of working age is quite high and amounted to 77%.

The average age of employed men is 38 years.

Every sixth man employed in the country's economy is aged 30-34 years.

Activities such as construction, transport and storage of goods, provision (supply) of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, and mining are predominantly male.

In 2022, 48 thousand men got married. Men prefer to start families at the age of 20-29 years. At the same time, 41 thousand men created families for the first time. Every second man who got married was aged 25–29 years, while every third man was aged 20–24 years.

The average age of men getting married for the first time in 2022 was 27.9 years, and for remarriage – 34.6 years.
