3.5 tons of drugs seized from illicit trafficking in Kyrgyzstan since beginning of year

Bishkek, Dec. 28, 2021. / Kabar /. Over the past 11 months, the Service for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan seized more than 3.5 tones of narcotics, psychotropic substances and precursors from illegal trafficking.

According to official data from the General Prosecutor's Office, the Interior Ministry registered 1,206 crimes and misdemeanors in the area of illicit drug trafficking, the Service said.

Thus, 3 tons 605 kg 059 grams of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors were withdrawn from illegal turnover, including: opium - 20 kg 036g, heroin - 6 kg 131g, hashish - 217 kg 135g, marijuana - 290 kg 556 g, cannabis plant - 326 kg 982 g, precursors - 2 t 496 kg 460 g, psychotropic substances - 11 kg 055 g, pharmaceuticals - 21 g, opium poppy - 66 g, other drugs - 236 kg 506 gr.

In the mentioned period of 2021, 13 foreign citizens (4 from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and 3 from Russia and 1 from Pakistan and the United States) were detained for drug trafficking, from whom more than 670 kg of all kinds of drugs were taken away.
