Bishkek, July 27, 2021 . / Kabar /. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will allocate EUR 33 million to Kyrgyzstan for the purchase of modern buses for Bishkek.
During a meeting on July 27, deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Transport, Communications, Architecture and Construction considered a draft grant and loan agreements between the Cabinet of Ministers and the EBRD for the Bishkek Buses project of the Framework Green Cities 2 - Window II.
Deputy Bishkek Mayor Maksatbek Sazykulov noted that under the agreements, the European Bank is allocating EUR 33 million to Kyrgyzstan for the implementation of the Bishkek Buses project.
"Out of the funds allocated, EUR 25 million is a loan and EUR 8 million is a grant. These funds will be used to purchase about 250-300 passenger buses of European quality with gas engines. The length of each bus will be about 10-12 meters. If the project is implemented, emissions of harmful substances will be reduced by 99%," said Sazykulov.
After the discussion, members of the Committee approved the reviewed projects, taking into account the proposals of the deputies.
