32% increase in number of influenza observed in Bishkek

Bishkek, Nov. 10, 2021 . / Kabar / . 65 thousand 710 cases of acute respiratory viral infection and influenza have been registered in Bishkek since the beginning of the autumn-winter period, Kanykei Erkimbayeva, an epidemiologist of the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance said during a broadcast on Birinchi Radio.

She added this figure increased by 32% compared to the same period in 2020 (44 thousand 804 cases).

"This is related to the changeable weather, overcrowded population and large number of citizens of vulnerable group (children and elderly people)," the specialist said.

In addition, Erikinbayeva pointed out that the vaccination may help to protect from infections.

In Bishkek, about 30 thousand citizens receive flu vaccine annually.
