Bishkek, Sept. 8, 2022. / Kabar /. 345 unauthorized dumps have been registered in Kyrgyzstan, which are organized on lands provided for agricultural work or in settlements, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic Beksultan Ibraimov told reporters at Kabar Agency.
He said that in total there are about 406 landfills in the country, of which only 61 are authorized, 345 are unauthorized. The total landfill area is 600 ha.
“Today, most of them cause some harm to the ecology of Kyrgyzstan. Although, according to the results of the inventory, it turned out that 70% of the garbage can be recycled and disposed of. So, to solve this issue, it is necessary to introduce non-waste technologies that are aimed at processing solid household waste. It is also necessary to convey to people the principle of separate waste collection,” he said.
In addition, the deputy head told what work is planned to be carried out within the framework of the decree of the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov “On the National Cleanup Day and the Action Plan for the creation of an effective infrastructure for the management of household waste for the period 2023-2025”.
