35 people poisoned in Kyrgyzstan by cakes

Bishkek, May 2, 2022. /Kabar/. A case of mass food poisoning with 35 victims, associated with the use of cream and confectionery products occurred in Osh Oblast of Kyrgyzstan, the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision told Kabar.

According to data, the first victims asked a medical help on May 1, 2022, at 18.33.

During the epidemiological investigation, it was established that cases of food poisoning occurred in 9 families, in total 35 people were affected, of which 18 were children under the age of 14.

It has been established that a common suspected product, after the use of which the victims had symptoms (headache, general weakness, vomiting, diarrhea), is a creamy confectionery product - a cake produced by the Sakhobat confectionery shop in the Karasu region, purchased at retail outlets in the bazaar of the city of Osh sold also without observing the storage conditions.

According to the results of laboratory studies of gastric and intestinal lavage taken from 6 victims, Staphylococcus aureus was found.

Laboratory studies of samples of food products (cakes) taken from the confectionery shop are in progress. No traces of suspected products were found in the foci of the victims.

All patients received first aid, detoxification, antibiotic therapy.

At present, the condition of the patients has improved.

The investigation into this case of food poisoning is ongoing.
