41 children and 18 women repatriated to Kyrgyzstan from Syria

Bishkek, Feb. 16, 2023 / Kabar/. As part of the Aikol humanitarian mission, 18 women and 41 children arrived in Kyrgyzstan from Syria on a special plane, accompanied by employees of the State Committee for National Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration said.

This event, aimed at saving children who are in an extremely dangerous situation for life and health, and who have the right to protection from the state, is the second repatriation event of such scale.

“The arrived children will be placed in a rehabilitation center to receive appropriate services to help them adapt to life in a peaceful and safe environment. Relevant services will carry out work on the rehabilitation and reintegration of children,” the ministry said.

The repatriation of children became possible thanks to the political will of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, the coordination of the Cabinet of Ministers and the coordinated interaction of state bodies in the field of foreign affairs, health and social security, law enforcement agencies, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Kuwait, as well as with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
