Bishkek, April 13, 2022. / Kabar /. 45% of men and 2.7% of women smoke in Kyrgyzstan, the country’s Ministry of Health reported with reference to data from the World Health Organization.
According to the WHO forecast, 201,476 men may die prematurely due to smoking. The number of women may reach 11 thousand 381 people.
In Kyrgyzstan, raising the price of cigarettes by 50% through an increase in excise tax could reduce the consumption of these products by 25% and generate an additional USD 32 million in annual excise tax revenue.
