5 citizens of Kyrgyzstan detained in Kazakhstan – Kyrgyz MFA

As of January 9, 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has information on the detention of 5 Kyrgyz citizens by the competent authorities of Kazakhstan. Corresponding work is underway with the Kazakh side on this issue, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.

Against the background of the events in Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, together with the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Nur-Sultan and the Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Almaty, monitored the situation on a constant / round-the-clock basis, carried out operational measures to provide assistance to the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the report said.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev maintains constant direct communication with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and keeps under constant special control the issue of the stay of Kyrgyz citizens who live and carry out their labor activities in the territory of Kazakhstan, in particular in markets and other areas.

An Operational Headquarters was created at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, to provide assistance to citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in Kazakhstan in an emergency situation, which approved an action plan for providing targeted consular and legal assistance and advice to citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Kazakhstan, maintaining contact with their relatives in the Kyrgyz Republic and interacting with the relevant structures of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

A round-the-clock hotline was organized in the Consular Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Almaty for Kyrgyz citizens in Kazakhstan, as well as their relatives and friends in the Kyrgyz Republic. So, in the period from 5 to 9 January 2022, the hotline received calls from about 1000 citizens, who were given the necessary explanations and consultations, and assistance was provided in establishing communication with relatives in the territory of Kazakhstan.
