Bishkek, July 3, 2018. / Kabar /. St. Petersburg City Court extended the terms of detention in the custody of the suspects in the recruitment of terrorists, Russian media reported.
Five natives of Kyrgyzstan are suspected of recruiting Petersburg residents to terrorist organizations "Djebhat an Nusra" and "Islamic State" (banned in Russia). On Monday, the court prolonged the arrest during the investigation in the framework of the investigation of the criminal case.
The joint press service of the St. Petersburg courts reported that the St. Petersburg City Court issued a decision to extend the period of detention until July 28 this year in respect of the accused in the crime under Part 1 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions against suspects were resumed on June 13 this year.
Recall that in April 2017, in connection with the investigation of the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro, nine people from Central Asia were arrested. All of them are natives of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg, the accomplices of the gang sought to recruit those recruited for the activities of other illegal armed groups, including on the territory of foreign states.
To date, five of the nine alleged recruiters remain in custody.
