Bishkek, Feb. 6 / Kabar /. In 2016, Kyrgyzstan exported to Europe the products worth $ 68 million by using the GSP + status, Minister of Economy Arzybek Kozhoshev said today in Bishkek.
He said that 50 Kyrgyz companies exported their products to Europe. "Mainly they supply beans, ethnic products, fish, dried fruits, mushrooms, nuts and, of course, drinks. The GSP + status has provided a great effect. For example, in 2015, Kyrgyzstan supplied products to the European market worth $ 30 million, while in 2016 this figure has doubled and amounted to $ 68 million," said Kozhoshev.
"This year we intend to increase these figures. In this regard, we have already started serious work," assured the Minister.
Moreover, the Minister of Economy said that experts from the EU on the GSP + has arrived today in Bishkek. "They are now preparing to travel to the regions. We will hold a series of meetings with entrepreneurs in the regions, to inform entrepreneurs and farmers what products can be delivered to the European markets," said Kozhoshev.
On January 27, 2016, Kyrgyzstan became the sixteenth country to which the European Union has provided a special incentive regime for sustainable development and good governance GSP +. This status allows exporters to supply up to 6 thousand items of goods to European markets for zero tariff rates. GSP + status is granted for 7 years.
