536 cases of measles registered in Kyrgyzstan since beginning of 2024

Bishkek, Jan. 22, 2024 /Kabar/. 536 cases of measles have been detected in Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of 2024, the Ministry of Health reported.

According to data of the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis, distribution by region: Bishkek city - 177 cases, Osh city - 9 cases, Chui region - 132 cases, Jalal-Abad region - 130 cases, Osh region - 75 cases, Batken region - 5 cases, Issyk- Kul region - 5 cases, Naryn region - 3 cases.

Analysis of age distribution of measles cases:

- up to 1 year - 182 cases;

- from 1 to 4 years - 201 cases;

- from 5 to 9 years - 77 cases;

- from 10 to 14 years - 22 cases;

- from 15 to 19 years old - 13 cases;

- from 20 to 29 years old - 24 cases;

- from 30 years and older - 17 cases.

The measles outbreak in the country began in the 1st week of 2023 in Bishkek, an imported case was registered from Turkiye and Russia, from which an analysis was taken for genotyping and culture research, and a measles virus of genotype D8 was identified.

At the end of 2023, a total of 7,046 cases of measles were registered in Kyrgyzstan with an intensive rate per 100,000 population (100.1). The majority of cases (43.5%) belong to the age group from 1 to 4 years.
