542 new cases of HIV infection registered in Kyrgyzstan since beginning of the year

Bishkek, Sept. 17, 2018 / Kabar /. 542 new cases of HIV infection have been registered in Kyrgyzstan since beginning of the year.

The total number of HIV-infected people increased by 1.2%, 542 cases (8.6) were registered against 528 cases (8.5) in 2017.

According to the monthly report of the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, for January-August 2018, the highest incidence rate is observed in Chui oblast (16.9) and Osh (11.0), Bishkek (19.2).

There is also an increase in infection with syphilis, 269 cases were registered in January-August 2018 against 239 cases for the same period in 2017. A high figure was registered in Bishkek - 52 cases, in Chui oblast - 52, in Osh oblast - 33 and in Naryn oblast - 26 cases.
