5th Meeting of Honorary Consuls of Kyrgyzstan in foreign countries held in Bishkek

Bishkek, March 16, 2019. / Kabar /. The 5th Meeting of Honorary Consuls of the Kyrgyz Republic in Foreign States was held in Bishkek with the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security, deputy of the Parliament Kanybek Imanaliev.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, in his speech, Aidarbekov noted the significant contribution of the Honorary Consuls to strengthening bilateral relations with foreign countries. He emphasized the importance of the activities of the Honorary Consuls to protect the rights and interests of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic abroad. The Minister drew attention to the approved new Concept of the country's foreign policy, where national interests and priorities are defined.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security of the Kyrgyz Parliament Imanaliev expressed gratitude to the Honorary Consuls for their assistance to citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic abroad and noted that the Committee supports the activities of the Honorary Consuls.

The event included three panel sessions to assist in the revitalization of “economic diplomacy”, including attracting foreign investment, expanding export markets, and promoting tourism.

During the meeting, Aidarbekov awarded the Honorary Consuls of the Kyrgyz Republic the certificates of honor and letters of appreciation.

On the results of the meeting, recommendations were developed for implementation by Honorary Consuls in the countries of accreditation for the period until the end of 2019.

Honorary consuls of the Kyrgyz Republic in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Turkey, the USA, Germany, Finland, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Thailand took part in this event.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic holds meetings of the Honorary Consuls once every two years. Their goal is to discuss the results of the work carried out and the definition of tasks for the next period.
