Bishkek, July 6, 2022. / Kabar /. 6 members of the religious extremist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami were convicted in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the country’s State Committee for National Security reported.
The Kyzyl-Kiya city court sentenced 6 members of the Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami to imprisonment from 1.6 to 6 years.
These members of the religious extremist organization were engaged in the recruitment and illegal involvement of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in an extremist organization.
During the search activities, a large amount of banned extremist literature and electronic media was seized.
The State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic recalls that the Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami was recognized by the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic on August 20, 2003 as an extremist organization and its activities are prohibited on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.
