Bishkek, Jan. 28, 2019. /Kabar/. 6.9 million people visited Kyrgyzstan in 2018, Director of the Department of Tourism Maksat Damir uulu told at a press conference at the Kabar News Agency.
“According to the State Border Service, citizens entering the territory are divided into three categories: private, business and tourism. In total, in 2018, 6.9 million people were registered. But this is not exact data, there is a counting system, which has weak spots. Therefore, we will still work in this direction. In terms of exports of the tourism industry, the amount is $ 450 million, tax collection was 110 million soms,” he explained.
In 2017, according to Maksat Damir uulu, the figure constituted approximately 5 million people.
“We see that the number of visitors is growing. This is also related to the holding of the III World Nomad Games last year,” he added.
In the first place is Uzbekistan in terms of the tourists who visited Kyrgyzstan, the second – Kazakhstan.
“If we take the countries that are among the 45 countries for which a visa-free regime has been introduced, then Germany is in the first place (22 thousand people), the second is the United States (16 thousand people), and the third is South Korea (15.4 thousand person). In addition, there is a large inflow of foreigners from Arab countries,” he added.
