65% of COVID-19 victims in Kyrgyzstan had cardiovascular disease: HQ

Bishkek, March 25, 2022. / Kabar /. In Kyrgyzstan, 65% of those who died from COVID-19 had cardiovascular disease, the Republican Headquarters for Combating COVID-19 said Friday in its report.

103,592 cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Kyrgyzstan last year, of which 1,446 people died.

Thus, in terms of age, the highest mortality rate was registered among the elderly aged 60 and over 90 years old. In turn, the lowest mortality - is among children from 0 to 6 years old.

In terms of regions, most deaths, as well as COVID-19 cases were recorded in the capital city of Bishkek.

The main causes of deaths were:

- Late treatment. 45% of the total number of cases registered sought medical attention 5 days later from the beginning of the disease;

- Presence of chronic diseases - the older the age of the patient, the more chronic diseases he has.

People over 60 years of age have four or more different chronic diseases. For example, cardiovascular diseases, neoplasms, endocrine diseases (diabetes mellitus, obesity), respiratory and digestive diseases, which leads to severe coronavirus infection and various complications.

The top three most common chronic diseases among those who died from coronavirus infection in Kyrgyzstan:

- cardiovascular disease (in 65% of all those who died);

- liver disease (20%);

- diabetes (15%).
