7 political parties notify about their refusal to participate in parliamentary elections

Bishkek, Oct. 14, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Central Elections Commission of Kyrgyzstan (CEC) considered the notifications of political parties Ak-Bata, Zharatman El, Congress of Peoples of Kyrgyzstan, Our People, Power to the People, Birge-Vmeste, and Socialist to refuse to participate in the elections of deputies to the Jogorku Kenesh scheduled for Nov. 28.

The CEC decided to take them into consideration guided by the Constitutional Law "On Elections of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic", the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums of the Kyrgyz Republic".

The parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan scheduled for Nov. 28 will be held by using a mixed electoral system.

54 deputies are to be elected according to the proportional system in single electoral constituencies, while 36 deputies are to be elected from single-mandate constituencies on a majority basis.

Before the amendments, the parliament of Kyrgyzstan consisted of 120 deputies elected for a five-year term according to party lists.
