70,000 foreign citizens vaccinated against COVID-19 in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Feb. 25, 2022. / Kabar /. Gulbara Ishenapysova, Director of the Republican Immunoprophylaxis Center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan told reporters at Kabar Agency that 70,000 foreign citizens had been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the country.

“Vaccination can be obtained if there is a certificate from the place of work or a certificate from the migration service on temporary residence in the Kyrgyz Republic,” she said.

Ishenapysova also noted that there are some restrictions for citizens arriving from the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

“This is due to the fact that some citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan or Kazakhstan cross the border on purpose to receive our vaccine, since they do not have vaccines of this production in their homeland. In this regard, we began to demand a certificate from the place of work or a certificate from the migration service,” she said.

A total of 1,428,438 people have been vaccinated in Kyrgyzstan so far, 1,156,577 of them have received both shots and 113,172 have received booster dose.

Kyrgyzstan has started COVID-19 vaccine jabs on March 29. The country is also inoculating its citizens with Sino-Pharm, Sputnik-V, Sputnik Light, Astra Zeneca, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
