Bishkek, Nov. 19, 2018. /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan, 77% of the population can afford to celebrate holidays with close people, or take part in major events, at weddings, tois, etc, a study of the National Statistical Committee reported.
According to the study, only every third household can afford to hold such major events on its own.
Interestingly, it is more typical for urban residents to hold small festivities, but on many occasions. As for residents of villages, it is most important is to hold and participate in any major national events. In the villages, mainly wedding events and commemorations are the main reasons for holding major events, whereas in the city birthdays and anniversaries are often celebrated.
The possibilities of holding major events in the oblasts are different: this percentage is highest in the Naryn and Batken oblasts, the lowest - in the city of Bishkek and in Osh and Jalal-Abad oblasts.
At the same time, the study shows that a quarter of single elderly people cannot afford to include meat and fish products in their diet, which indicate malnutrition.
