Bishkek, Oct. 27, 2021 . / Kabar / . 78 children died in traffic accidents in Kyrgyzstan in nine months of the year, Manas Sydygaliyev, the deputy head of the Road Patrol Service and Law Enforcement Practice Department of the Main Directorate for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told during a briefing.
He added that 62 children were killed in road accidents last year. The representative of the Internal Ministry is convinced children should be inculcated with a culture of behaviour on the road from an early age.
"We need to teach children the rules of the road from the age of toddlers. If the Ministry of Education includes this point and allocates hours for teaching traffic rules to schoolchildren, it would be very useful," said Manas Sydygaliyev.
A total of 5,437 accidents were registered across the republic in first nine months of this year, including 587 fatalities and 8,298 injuries.
"Compared to last year, there was an increase in accidents, but last year restrictions were imposed due to the pandemic," Sydygaliyev said.
