Bishkek, May 2, 2021. / Kabar /. 78 houses, 2 schools, 1 medical station, 1 kindergarten, 1 police building, 3 border posts, 10 gas stations, 8 shops of Kyrgyzstan were damaged in the conflict zone on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Urmatbek Shamyrkanov told at a briefing.
“Houses that were damaged during the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border will be rebuilt,” he said.
Shamyrkanov noted that while the houses of the evacuated residents are restored, they will be placed in temporary evacuation points or with relatives and friends.
“I want to assure you that we will fully restore the houses and facilities that were damaged during the conflict. And we also hope for help from the population of the country,” said the deputy head of the Emergencies Ministry.
He added that currently, the damage caused during the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border is being clarified.
A special commission has been set up in Kyrgyzstan to calculate the damage suffered by local residents and an investigative team is now collecting evidences of the use of firearms by the Tajik side and documents what is happening.
According to the latest reports, 34 Kyrgyz people died, including a 12-year-old girl and 178 injured as a result of clashes.
The conflict at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border has started on April 28, when a verbal conflict between the local residents of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan gradually escalated into an armed clash between the military personnel of the countries. The reason for the conflict was the installation of a video surveillance camera by the Tajik side on power transmission poles near the Golovnaya water intake, which is located in Batken region of Kyrgyzstan.
On May 1, the sides agreed to cease fire and withdraw forces to their permanent deployment locations.
