8 kg of harmful emissions falls per person in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Oct. 29, 2021 . / Kabar / . . There were 4 billion tons of production and consumption waste in Kyrgyzstan at the end of 2020, the “Environment in the Kyrgyz Republic” collection of the National Statistics Committee shows.

In 2020, the volume of emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere from controlled stationary sources was 50.6 thousand tons and decreased by 4.2 percent compared to 2016.

The capital city of Bishkek accounts for about half of the emissions of air pollutants (46.6 percent). In 2020, the volume of emissions per one square kilometer amounted to 253.3 kg in the republic as a whole, and per capita - 8.0 kg.

Meanwhile, the largest share of such waste (99.5 percent) was produced in Issyk-Kul Oblast of the country.
