Bishkek, Nov. 3, 2018 / Kabar /. An event in honor of the 90th anniversary of Kyrgyz writer is held in the Osh Kyrgyz Drama Theater with the participation of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov
The event is also attended by Speaker of Jogorku Kenesh Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, Osh Mayor T. Sarybashov, MPs, representatives of local authorities, local residents, activists and young people. The play based on Aitmatov’s work was staged.
President Jeenbekov said that the activity and family life of the writer is closely connected with the city of Osh. He spent his childhood under the Sulayman-Too mountain and on the banks of the Ak-Buura river, and his father's state labor activity began in Aravan region.
“Perhaps his creative activity was influenced by the southern region. Thanks to the works of Aitmatov, the whole world learned about our people, his works were translated into 176 languages of the world. More than 100 million copies of his works were printed in 128 countries of the world. Our Aitmatov goes after Shakespeare and Tolstoy. We have lost not only Aitmatov, but also an era,” said the president.
A number of national scale events will also be held on the central square of the city of Osh, where sculptures, a photo exhibition, a fair of agricultural products from all districts of the region, handicrafts and many other things dedicated to Aitmatov will be presented.
In addition, equestrian games will be held at the local hippodrome.
The 90th anniversary of great writer Aitmatov has been marking this year.
