Bishkek, May 4, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstanis actively continue collection of humanitarian aid for those who suffered during the recent events on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in Batken Oblast, Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan Urmatbek Shamyrkanov told at a briefing.
A total of 572 tons of humanitarian aid in the form of food and basic necessities have been collected. Of these, 515 tons have already been delivered to their destinations.
The main humanitarian aid is food, clothing, household goods and hygiene products.
“At the moment, 116.65 tons are stored in the warehouse. In addition, about 359 tons of humanitarian aid were collected spontaneously and delivered directly to the victims. There are no problems in delivering the collected aid. Many caring citizens, the owners of various companies also provide assistance with delivery. The Ministry of Emergency Situations escorts each cargo to its destination,” Shamyrkanov said.
36 people died, 189 injured in Kyrgyzstan as a result of the clashes at the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. Over 100 buildings were burnt or damaged, about 33,000 civilians were evacuated from the conflict zone. The evacuees temporarily live in gyms of schools and some of them in their relatives’ homes.
The General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan regarded the actions of the Tajik side as military aggression.
On April 29, 2021, bandit formations and troops of Tajikistan treacherously attacked the borders of Kyrgyzstan using automatic weapons, mortars, combat helicopters, heavy armored vehicles, artillery crews and other types of weapons against the civilian population of Kyrgyzstan.
These armed formations deliberately attacked the unarmed civilian population of the Kyrgyz Republic. In this connection, the Kyrgyz side took measures to evacuate the civilian population from villages of Leilek and Batken regions.
