Bishkek, June 10, 2019. /Kabar/. The International Mountain Cycling Marathon will be held in Kyrgyzstan for the second time, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism, Director of Tourism Department Maksat Damir uulu told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
The organizer is the Silk Road Mountain Race company with the support of the Department of Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic.
“The bicycle marathon is one of the 40 events planned to develop Kyrgyz tourism," the deputy minister said.
He noted that marathon will start on August 17 near Bishkek and end on August 31 in Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul Oblast.
Nelson Trees, the General Director of Silk Road Mountain Race Company, said that the participants of the bicycle race will go across Chui, Naryn and Issyk-Kul Oblasts.
“In total, 148 people from 27 countries will take part in the race this year. Five people will participate in the race from Kyrgyzstan. The total length of the route for cyclists is 1,700 kilometers,” he said.
Last year, 90 people took part in the bicycle race last year.
