About 30 documents to be signed at SCO Summit in Bishkek

Bishkek, May 2, 2019. / Kabar /. About 20 documents are expected to be signed by presidents within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, Daniyar Sydykov, the chief of the foreign policy department of the President’s Office of Kyrgyzstan told reporters during the briefing.

He said that 8 presidents will attend the upcoming SCO Summit, and another 4 heads of state will attend as observers.

“In addition, heads of international organizations will attend the summit. It should be noted that an event at such a high level with the participation of so many presidential delegations will be held in Kyrgyzstan for the first time,” he said.

Sydykov noted that in preparation for the SCO Summit in Bishkek, a meeting of defense ministers of the Organization’s member states was held recently.

“Then the meeting of secretaries of the Security Council of the SCO countries will be held, the preparation to the summit will be summarized by meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs. The foreign ministers will sum up the preparation and agree on the SCO agenda. As part of the summit at the presidential level, it is planned to sign about 20 documents and another 10 at the level of ministries and departments,” he explained.

In addition, the head of the foreign policy department of the President’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic stressed that Russia, China and India provide technical support in organization of the SCO Summit.

Daniyar Sydykov also recalled the upcoming two important events: the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping and the official visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Xi Jinping accepted the invitation of our president to visit Kyrgyzstan for state visit. During the visit of the Prime Minister of India, we expect discussing of many issues. About 12 documents will be signed,” added Daniyar Sydykov.
