Bishkek, Feb. 18, 2021. / Kabar /. About 76% of households in Kyrgyzstan were affected by COVID-19. This is evidenced by data from the Household Survey on the impact of COVID-19 on children and women in Kyrgyzstan, conducted in November-December 2020 by the National Statistics Committee of the republic with financial and technical support from the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF).
The survey covered the period from March 2020 to the day of the survey. Of the 4,310 addresses selected for the survey, 3,976 households were inhabited at the time of the survey, of which 3,869 responded to the survey.
Overall, about 76% of households were affected by COVID-19, having experienced at least one of the difficulties that occurred because of the outbreak: household income declined, and/or parents/guardians of children were dissatisfied with the online learning process, and/or at least one household member contracted or died from the coronavirus, and/or an adult household member felt "very and extremely" depressed, dejected, or hopeless because of news, threats, and restrictions related to the coronavirus, and/or at least one household member had to move to live elsewhere and/or needed medical care for any reason but could not get it.
More than 28% of households were covered by social support/assistance, among which more than 79% received it from government agencies.
Over 20% of households reported a worsening of emotional state (mood) due to COVID-19.
The distance learning covered about 83 % of children aged 7-17 years old. The percentage of children whose parents were dissatisfied with the online learning process made 78%.
The percentage of children whose parents discussed precautions to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection with their children was over 98%.
