Bishkek, Feb. 14, 2022. / Kabar /. At the beginning of the 2021/2022 academic year, about 83 thousand foreign students, or more than 35% of the total number of students, were studying in higher professional educational institutions of the republic.
The predominant part - more than 59 thousand people, or 71% - were students from the CIS countries, whose number has increased by 7.7 times over the past five years.
At the same time, a significant increase in the number fell on students from Uzbekistan, whose share in the total number of students increased from 11% to 90%. At the same time, there was a decrease in the number of students from Kazakhstan, whose share, in comparison with the beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year, on the contrary, decreased from 43% to 3%.
