Bishkek, Oct. 12, 2023. /Kabar/. The concept of the presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2023 and the Action Plan for its implementation were presented at a meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth member states to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth on January 31, 2023.
Over the past period, more than 40 events have been held under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic, including meetings of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS, the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS, the Economic Council of the CIS, as well as the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States.
In addition, this year more than 30 meetings of CIS industry cooperation bodies and about 40 meetings of expert groups on the preparation of draft documents within the CIS were held.
One of the priority areas in the Concept is climate resilience measures, which are directly related to economic development issues.
As part of the implementation of this direction, more than 20 events were held, including a round table on the topic “National strategies and priorities in the field of environmental protection” and the X Nevsky International Environmental Congress on the topic “Ecology: a right, not a privilege” in St. Petersburg.
The establishment of an active dialogue with international institutions continued in order to implement joint projects and programs in the field of environmental protection and the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies, increasing the share of the green economy.
As part of the XII International Forum ATOMEXPO-2022 in Sochi (Russian Federation), on January 10, a round table “Nuclear Heritage Objects: Experience and Prospects for Cooperation” was held.
On April 4, Aktau (Republic of Kazakhstan) hosted a visiting meeting of the expert group on the development of technical solutions and technologies of the basic organization of the CIS member states on the management of spent nuclear fuel, radioactive waste and the decommissioning of nuclear and radiation hazardous facilities.
Issues on the protection of natural ecosystems are being studied, including through mass planting of green spaces to ensure climate resilience in our countries, using the example of the national campaign “Jashyl Muras” (“Green Heritage”) carried out in the Kyrgyz Republic, aimed at promoting issues of protecting natural ecosystems .
Cooperation in the economic sphere was positive. In accordance with documents previously adopted in the Commonwealth, appropriate attention, first of all, was paid to the implementation of the provisions of the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030 and the provisions of the Free Trade Agreement. And in June of this year, at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS in Sochi, an important Agreement on free trade in services, establishment, activities and investments was signed, which will strengthen integration ties within the Commonwealth.
Within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the development of cooperation and the development of integration interaction between the CIS member states in all areas continued.
In general, the Plan for the implementation of the Concept of the Chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic in the CIS stipulates 81 events during 2023, of which as of October 10 of this year. 45 events were conducted. The main part will be completed in the fall and December 2023.
