Abylgaziev and Mikuriya discuss cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and WCO

Bishkek, Apr. 17, 2019 / Kabar /. Kyrgyz Prime Minister Mukhammedkaliy Abylgaziev met with Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Kunio Mikuriya.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the issues of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the World Customs Organization, the Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported.

The Prime Minister Abylgaziev noted that the Kyrgyz Republic is aimed at improving the quality and effectiveness of cooperation, in connection with which a draft Cooperation Strategy with the World Customs Organization was developed.

He stressed that the opening of the Regional Training Center of the World Customs Organization in Bishkek demonstrates attention and support for efforts to improve the efficiency of the customs service not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also in the Central Asian region as a whole.

At the meeting, the sides also discussed the prospects for further cooperation taking into account the efforts being made to digitize all spheres of life, including the customs service within the framework of the Year of Regional Development and Digitalization announced by President Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

The sides noted that in this direction the goals of the government correspond to the goals of the World Customs Organization and create a good basis for intensifying and developing cooperation.
