Bishkek, July 23, 2018. / Kabar /. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkaliy Abylgaziev held a meeting on the implementation of the Ala-Too Bulagy program in the field of rural drinking water supply in the country's populated areas, the Government’s press service reported.
Director of the Department of Development of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation of the State Agency for Architecture, Construction and Housing and Communal Services under the Kyrgyz Government Askarbek Toktoshev told that currently two projects are being implemented within the framework of the Ala-Too Bulagy program aimed at developing and improving rural water supply and sanitation.
"The program covers almost all populated areas, where there are problems with access to clean drinking water. Water supply systems are planned in 115 villages of the republic. In addition, all social institutions will be connected to water supply, new sanitation facilities will be built or old ones will be rehabilitated in schools. The projects will be implemented with the financial support of the World Bank and the Islamic Development Bank. In total, about $ 94 million is provided for the development of water supply," said Askarbek Toktoshev.
The head of government noted that all the projects on providing clean drinking water to the regions of the country should be completed within the deadlines.
"Within the framework of the announced the Year of Regional Development, the government will make every effort to ensure that every resident of the country has access to water supply. Errors made during the implementation of the Taza Suu program should not be repeated," the prime minister said and instructed to consider the need to review tariffs for drinking water services.
