Bishkek, May 19, 2018 / Kabar /. "The Kyrgyz Republic expresses deep concern about the sharp escalation of the situation and the large number of civilians killed and wounded as a result of protests in the Gaza Strip," Muhammedkaly Abylgaziev, the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan told on May 18 speaking at the emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul (Turkey).
Welcoming the heads of the delegations of the Organization and participants in the meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated them on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported.
The head of the government also expressed sincere condolences to the Palestinian people in connection with the numerous victims as a result of the clashes on May 14, 2018.
"Our today's meeting is taking place at an uneasy time for the entire international community, including the Muslim world. In these conditions, holding an emergency meeting of the Summit of our Organization is logical and timely," Abylgaziev said.
He said that the transfer of the US Embassy to the city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), despite the UN General Assembly resolution adopted on December 21, 2017 by the majority of UN member states, aggravated the situation and brought to nothing the efforts of the international community for a peaceful settlement of Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
"We call on all parties involved to show maximum restraint in order to avoid human casualties to ensure the safety of civilians, especially children," Abylgaziev stressed.
The Prime Minister expressed his conviction that the solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict lies in the international legal plane in which the UN should play its exceptional and decisive role.
The Head of Government noted that Kyrgyzstan fully supports the efforts of the leaders of OIC member states calling for joint strengthening of peace and international security.
"The Kyrgyz Republic firmly believes that the people of Palestine will soon realize their right to a dignified life free of violence and war, build their sovereign state, which will become a full-fledged member of the UN," Abylgaziev stressed.
The Prime Minister expressed the hope that this meeting will be another step in the settlement of the situation around the city of Al-Quds, as well as in strengthening solidarity within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
